ARMY WORK EXPERIENCE

This video gives you a taster of the type of activities that you're likely to take part in, when you go along to one of the work experience courses. You will spend 3 days together, taking part in obstacle courses, military lessons, team and communication tasks, cooking in the field and an overnight field exercise.

By the end of the course you should have a good idea what it's like to be in the Army, and if you want to learn more the instructors will be more than happy to talk to you about how to take the next steps.

1

find out if you can take part

You'll need to be screened by your training provider* to check that you're suitable to take part in the activities. These checks will be based on the Army eligibility checks that all candidates must meet to apply to join the Army. Visit the Can I Join pages for more information.

You'll be asked about your physical fitness too, as you will need to be able to take part in some physical exercises while you're on the course.

2

introduction to the course

You'll then be invited to a half- day course to learn more about what to expect during the three day event. You'll also be given a chance to learn more about the Army, and what it offers. You can find out more about the benefits of being in the Army, visit the Benefits page.

WORK EXPERIENCE

If you've passed the checks, and you're interested in joining the Army, you'll be given a place on one of the one day course. This includes overnight stays at the site, and the course has been designed to be supportive. All the activities are voluntary, and you won't be made to do anything you're not comfortable with. You will not be expected to join the Army once you've finished, however we would be very happy to talk to you if it is something you would like to follow up.

The course is run by trained soldiers, and everyone who takes part will receive a certificate on completion of the course.
