WHO ARE THE ROYAL ARMOURED CORPS?

The Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) are the Army's specialists in Armour (i.e. tanks) and Reconnaissance. As one of the two combat arms (alongside the Infantry) they are primarily focussed on closing with and destroying the enemy.

The 14 Regular and Reserve regiments of the Royal Armoured Corps are descendants of the cavalry, who originally rode into battle on horseback, and the Royal Tank Corps, who manned the very first tanks in the First World War.
